CE Marking for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – 89/686/EEC

The Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Directive is defined as protective clothings or equipments that are worn by an individual to protect against from health and safety hazards. All the protective equipment are expected to be safe and fit for various purposes. The safe manufacturing of these protective equipments is governed by the Personal Protective Equipment(PPE)-89/686/EEC.

The manufacturer must confirm the safety of equipments, harmonised with the European standards. ALl the technical specifications are deemed to be audit by the notified body to meet the standards of health and safety requirements of the Directive.

The main objective of this directive is to ensure free movement of Personal Protective Equipment within the community harmonising the directory standards.The protective equipments manufactured in a company must be confirmed by CE Marking and must applied to a notified body to undergo EC-type examination.
